All workshops are at Theatre 1308 (1308 Edmonton Trail NE).

This program highlights the contrast between Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre’s elegant, courtly keyboard works and Isabella Leonarda’s sacred polyphonic vocal music, transcribed for keyboard by Justin Luchinski.

Visit the candlelit music salon at Sans Souci, King Frederick II’s summer palace, where musicians experimented with mixed styles, endeavouring to satisfy the King’s tastes. Explore the roots of the modern chamber music concert tradition, and discover music that moved beyond the aesthetic complexities of the baroque to the simplicity of the “galant”, ushering in the classical era.

Directed by Julie Harris, the University of Calgary’s early music program Collegium Musicum presents a wonderful program of music by Jean-Baptiste Lully, Michel Pignolet de Montéclair, Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, and more.
